Watch and Control Your Christmas Lights Remotely
We finally got around to setting up our Christmas tree last night. This morning I realized that I could watch the tree via Sensr.net. I grabbed a spare camera and pointed it at the tree.
Just for fun, I also connected the lights to a Wayne-Dalton Z-Wave Outdoor Appliance Module. Since I have a Vera home automation system from Mi Casa Verde, I can now turn the lights on and off remotely while I’m watching!
Of course you can also embed a live view in your web page if you like, see this post on how to embed your camera’s live view into your web page.
Bonus Points: There are a lot of interesting web connected Christmas light projects out there. One of the more sophisticated is CheerLights which controls the lights via Twitter.
